A little pause…
I’m the Xaddy is taking a short break while we welcome our baby into the world. 🖤
After months of talking about pregnancy, identity, non-binary parenthood and everything that comes with getting here, it’s time for us to actually become parents, something I’ll be bringing you along for when the podcast returns.
And when Season 2 arrives, we’ll be talking about the first 40 days, becoming a parent, diblings, identity after birth, and all the messy, unexpected and wonderful things that come with figuring this out for the very first time.
Season 2 will return with new episodes every two weeks.
For now, thank you for listening, supporting the podcast and coming along on this journey.

Pregnancy is supposed to be life-changing. And it is.
But somehow, it can also feel like doing the same things every day: eating, sleeping, peeing, checking movements, monitoring blood sugars, going to appointments and Googling every strange new symptom.
In this episode, I reflect on the mental load of late pregnancy, becoming more attuned to my body and our baby, preparing for birth, and the strange reality of growing an entire human while still carrying on with everyday life.
I also talk about something I didn't expect pregnancy to teach me: gender.
As a non-binary person, pregnancy has given me a shared physical experience without necessarily giving me a shared identity with other pregnant people. I expected it to feel more feminine. Instead, it has felt more human.
From feeling like a number during a consultant appointment to feeling genuinely seen by midwives learning about trans and non-binary visibility, this episode is about the contradictions of pregnancy, the extraordinary and the mundane, exhausting and beautiful, deeply personal and completely universal.
And now, with birth just around the corner, it's time for the next part.

Everyone says the second trimester is the easy one.
The honeymoon phase.
The part where pregnancy suddenly becomes enjoyable.
But... what if that's not everyone's experience?
In this episode of I'm the Xaddy, I look back on my second trimester now that I'm nearly at the end of pregnancy, sharing the moments that changed everything from finally feeling our baby move to navigating anatomy scans, changing body image, and the strange reality of becoming visibly pregnant as a non-binary parent.
My wife also joins me as we answer questions about pregnancy, parenting, our relationship and preparing to become Mummy and Xaddy.
Whether you're pregnant, trying to conceive, supporting someone who is, or simply curious about what pregnancy really feels like outside the highlight reel, this episode is an honest, funny and reassuring conversation about a trimester that isn't always as easy as people say.

Throughout pregnancy, I've realised that I've been translating.
Every leaflet. Every form. Every appointment. Every app.
As a non-binary birth parent, I constantly find myself filtering information through my own brain before asking, "Does any of this actually apply to me?"
In this episode, I talk honestly about what it feels like to navigate a maternity system and a wider pregnancy culture that still assumes everyone is a mum. From Badger Notes and antenatal appointments to pregnancy books, Instagram and the emotional labour of deciding whether to correct people, this is a conversation about belonging, identity and the invisible work of existing in spaces that weren't designed with you in mind.
This isn't about blame.
It's about what happens when hundreds of tiny moments quietly remind you that you're different.
If you've ever felt like you've had to translate yourself just to belong, I hope this episode makes you feel seen.

In this episode of I’m the Xaddy, I talk about the emotional side of non-binary pregnancy and becoming a parent before your baby arrives.
After being diagnosed with gestational diabetes at 35 weeks pregnant, I found myself grieving the birth experience I had imagined and questioning what this next chapter would look like.
This episode explores the identity shift of pregnancy, preparing for parenthood, accepting change, and navigating pregnancy as a non-binary person in a world that doesn’t always include us.
Because becoming a parent isn’t just about meeting your baby.
It’s about discovering who you’re becoming too.

This week is a little different.
At almost 33 weeks pregnant, pregnancy has finally caught up with me. Between the heat, swollen hands and feet, sleepless nights, extra midwife appointments, antenatal classes, and a few trips to the antenatal day centre after some quieter baby movements, my body has made it very clear that it's time to slow down.
So, I'm taking a short two-week break from the podcast.
This isn't goodbye; it's just a pause. I'll be back on 15th July with a brand new episode all about the strange in-between stage of pregnancy: not quite feeling like yourself anymore, but not quite feeling like a parent either.
Thank you for listening, for supporting the podcast, and for reminding me that sometimes the healthiest thing we can do is rest.

Periods. Pubes. Pit-stains. Three completely normal parts of having a body, so why do we spend so much time hiding them?
In this episode of I'm the Xaddy, I explore the shame, expectations, and gendered assumptions surrounding periods, body hair, and sweat through the lens of being a non-binary person navigating pregnancy.
From growing up believing periods were something to hide to experiencing fertility treatment and pregnancy, I reflect on how my relationship with my body has changed over time. I also talk about body hair, the pressure to appear "clean" or feminine, and why non-binary people are often expected to perform androgyny. Finally, we tackle sweat, one of the most natural human functions that society still treats as embarrassing.
This episode is an honest conversation about body acceptance, pregnancy, gender identity, fertility, body image, and letting go of impossible expectations.

In this episode, I explore what it’s like to navigate pregnancy as a non-binary person within NHS maternity care. From gendered language and outdated forms to assumptions about parents, partners, and family structures, I share the realities of pregnancy when healthcare systems are not designed with non-binary, transgender, and LGBTQ+ parents in mind.
We discuss inclusive maternity care, non-binary pregnancy experiences, NHS healthcare, fertility treatment, donor conception, pregnancy appointments, parental leave, and the importance of recognising diverse family structures. This episode highlights how language, policies, and healthcare systems can impact the well-being of queer families and offers insight into creating more inclusive care for non-binary and transgender parents.
Whether you're part of the LGBTQ+ community, expecting a baby, working in healthcare, or interested in equality and inclusion in maternity services, this episode provides an honest look at pregnancy, parenthood, and being seen in healthcare.

In this episode, I explore the question: did I always know I was non-binary, or were there signs I only understood in hindsight? I reflect on childhood memories, identity confusion, and the subtle experiences that didn’t quite fit the labels I was given at the time.
This episode dives into non-binary identity, self-discovery, and the process of unlearning expectations around gender. If you’re questioning your own identity, exploring gender diversity, or curious about what it feels like to come into yourself later in life, this episode offers a raw and relatable look at that journey.
